The Borough Viaduct project is part of Network Rail's Thameslink programme to increase capacity through London Bridge Station. The new rail viaduct runs alongside the existing viaduct, making a detour to avoid the listed Globe public house, and features a bridge spanning Borough High Street.
The new Borough Viaduct runs alongside the existing rail bridge over Borough Market, doubling track capacity and helping to eliminate unwelcome train journey delays.
Leading project development and construction company, Skanska, was engaged to join an integrated team responsible for the design, planning, engineering and construction of a new 400-metre steel viaduct at Borough Market, west of London Bridge station, aimed at easing train congestion and increasing the flow of trains through the station.
